Nice to know Information:
Italian Weddings: The confetti candy decorate each place setting as favors (called bomboniere). The sugar coated almonds called by popular name "Jordan Almonds" can be presented in pretty little favor boxes, in tulle or organza bags, or lovely flower pockets. Attached to the bomboniere is a confetti card personalized with the Bride and Groom names and wedding date. Five candies are traditionally used and they represent health, wealth, happiness, longevity and fertility for the couple married that day. At Italian weddings the confetti candy bomboniere is attached to a thank you gift which is given to each family or couple attending the wedding.
Greek Weddings: In traditional Greek weddings, sugarcoated almonds are called koufetta. They are placed in little bags in odd numbers and are served on a silver tray. Odd numbers are indivisible, symbolizing how the newlyweds will share everything and remain undivided. Tradition holds that if an unmarried woman puts the almonds under her pillow, she'll dream of her future husband.
Consider using this Jordan Almonds poem:
Five sugared almonds for you to eat To remind you that life is both bitter and sweet. Five wishes for the new husband and wife -- Health, wealth, happiness, children, and a long life!
